As a number of you know, Tatanka49, aka John Pritchard was a long time geocacher who had his first find on January 3, 2004. He hosted a series of events going by the name of Dinering the Verb. His second event of this series was the first event I, mmacgown, attended and where I met a number of soon to be geofriends. He also placed over a hundred caches, mostly in Queens, His series of The Q Stops here series brought you to many different locations throughout Queens and Nassau County.
Sadly, John had some health issues that made his caching days fewer than he wanted. As his health deteriorated, he fought a good fight overcoming numerous health obstacles so that he was able to continue to play and travel by airplane and cruise with his Beloved NativeNYer. Despite enduring a double amputation of his feet, he eventually got protheses (his hoofs) and had his geomobile converted so that he still would be able to drive. A true testament to his spirit amd strong will to live.
Sadly we lost John in April 2019. A memorial service in September was had and many people whose lives he touched spoke wonderfully of John. from his passions for teaching in the NYC school system, to his involvement in his faith, and of his longtime involvement in scouting.
Let's meet and share our memories of this wonderful man! You are missed!
We chose this restaurant, since he had a number of his events in its sister restauant in Astoria.
