12 September 2021, 19:30 - 20:45
Join us for a brief night of stargazing and expand your geocaching adventures out of the ground and into the sky with some of your fellow geocachers!... We'll be looking at Venus, Saturn and Jupiter and maybe some deep space objects as well... This event is sequel to Astrocache II - Spring '21 where we got to see the Moon and Orion's Nebulae... This is a special time to observe these gas giants as they reached opposition in August and are still closest to earth in their orbits around the sun... If all goes well, we will be treated with a special event involving the Galilean moons and Jupiter (more information to follow)... For this event we'll be using my 10" reflector telescope for most of the observing... This is not an electronic instrument, please be patient as I have to adjust it manually every couple of seconds... If you have a telescope you'd like to bring that will be ok as well... Street parking is available feet away from the posted coordinates... Obviously the weather is a factor... If the conditions are not adequate for observing, the event will be postponed for the following Sunday... If your planning on attending, keep posted for up to date information on this page... We will be by the water so dress accordingly... And don't forget to sign the log book... Because covid is still a factor, wearing a mask and social distancing at the event is required... The parks and recreation department are aware of the event and permission is granted for the gathering... The park closes at 10pm... I have a passion for astronomy and we love Geocaching... This is our third event that Berlin and I are hosting... We are very exited and looking forward to see you there... Hopefully the weather will cooperate... Thx for looking and Happy Geocaching! 🌙👀🔭🎉📓✔️🙂💜 Rplus84 & Rplus13
