When I reflect on the 20+ years since co-founding Geocaching.com, many of the memories that stand out started with relationships created at geocaching events. In fact, I can honestly say that I met some of the most important people in my life at my very first event and I am truly blessed to have made so many wonderful geocaching friends in so many places around the world.
I will be back in my hometown on Long Island visiting family and friends in July and I'd love to meet some of my fellow Tri-State Area cachers while I am there. That is why I asked the Geocachers of Long Island to help plan this Community Celebration Event. From what I've heard, the GoLI crew knows how to throw a party, so it should be a good time! There will be giveaways, free food, raffles and, most importantly, a chance to hang out with fellow geocachers. More event details will be announced within the coming weeks.
EVENT DETAILS: West Lindens lot (near P6 parking area and next to the Rose Garden) of Eisenhower Park, from 4-8:30pm on Friday, July 9th. This event spot was reserved via permit with the property manager, Eisenhower Park, Nassau County Department of Park, Recreation & Museums. For those of you with children, note that the event is close to the large kids park. Up to date information on this event can also be found on the Geocachers of Long Island Facebook Group. Note that COVID-19 is still a risk. Therefore, social distancing and wearing a mask is currently required at this event but may be changed in accordance with the current health guidance in place at the time of the event. The Geocachers of Long Island will provide hand sanitizer. In addition, while many outdoor gathering restrictions have been lifted, depending on state and local restrictions in place at the time of the event there may be applicable gathering limitations, so keep an eye out for potential event announcements. Of course, you should not attend this event if within the 14 days prior to July 9th you have been exposed to, or are experiencing symptoms of, COVID-19 or are under any form of quarantine order. You can learn more about COVID-19 and its symptoms at the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. Note further that, due to potential changes in applicable health guidance, we may need to postpone this event for a future date if we are unable to host the event as planned at Eisenhower Park on this date.

Deepest gratitude goes to the Geocachers of Long Island for their help with this event. GoLI was created to: a) support, promote and enhance geocaching on Long Island by encouraging an active, helpful and fun geocaching community; b) create fun, educational and social geocaching events; and c) be an advocate for geocaching with property managers, government agencies and the general public. GoLI is a member-supported organization with membership options available at various levels, including free. GoLI membership not required to attend this event. Visit the GoLI website at Geocachersofli.org or our Geocachers of LI Facebook Group to learn more about GoLI, its objectives and membership levels.
